About Me

I am a 62yr. old cradle Catholic born to parents from devout Roman Catholic families. I was baptized a Roman Catholic, made First Holy Communion and was confirmed a Roman Catholic (Latin rite). I was born in a Catholic hospital, and as the first child, my parents hoped for a son to be named after his father. However, not only was I a girl, but I was born 2mos early, and no consideration had been given to girls names, sooo a nun in the hospital said to my mother, "She's so little (4lbs,3oz), why don't you name her Therese, after the Little Flower?" Hence, my name Therese, which many people mispronounce horribly, even some Catholics. I recently realized some are thinking of St. Therese Neumann since I haven't learned to add the accents on the comments. I was born under the Magisterium of Vatican I, and like all little Catholic girls, I wanted to be a nun! God had other plans for me - I am a mother, grandmother, and last year I became a Great-Grandmother With The Grace of God!  I had left the Church for a while due to what I considered a betrayal by the one someone I thought I could trust, a priest. No ifs, ands or buts, The Almighty Good God made me a Catholic, so in spite of my studying many different religions, He brought me back into the Church. I started on the way back by reciting the rosary 3 times a day every day! I am sincerely, strongly devoted to The Sacred Heart Of Jesus, Who with the frequent recitations of the rosary and Novenas to Him and St. Anthony of Padua (my patron saint), have Blessed me to leave a "sick" bed after 11yrs of chronic, excruciating pain, with a diagnosis of what the drs. call "Degenerative Joint Disease", which is a fancy way of saying what I call "super arthritis". 2wks ago, I finally had an appt. with a real Pain Dr. and received an epidural injection was has kept me pain-free ever since. It's like being born again. My own words came back to haunt me "Sometimes God has to put you flat on your back to get your attention." The time in bed "flat on my back made me learn how to pray from my heart, and not just from my lips. Faith in my heart is a four-letter word "HOPE", the substance of the mustard seed. All of my elders have passed on, leaving me the oldest woman in the family. Many times issues come up and I think I can call someone in the family and remember they have passed on, I'm "it"! So I've learned to talk to Jesus and be patient. Tonite I told  my brother, I am so "HAPPY", humble, and grateful to be back in the Roman Catholic Church again, because my foundation growing up was so strong, I feel "home" again.  In spite of all the religions that I have studied, Catholicism is natural to my spirit. I praise God and glorify His name!

Very grateful to be accepted into course. My level of participation may start out a little slow, but I hope it grows in time. In Christ, Therese.
